There are some nights when you will dream of Them. And they will feel realer than real. You can see them clearly (for once) and feel them against you. Their hair will brush against your face, and you’ll be able to feel it. Their breath will have a moisture and warmth to it against your skin. You won’t have to reach to try and fill in the gaps to round out your experience. It’ll all happen on its own, and you can just soak it all in.
But always
Always.
you will wake up in the morning, and it’ll all be Gone.
I mentioned I’ve been working on crafting modern and/or local epithets for the Theoi. I’m basing these somewhat off historical/literary epithets and titles but more off of my personal ideas, relationships, etc. In some cases, I’ve tried to adapt or update traditional epithets; in others, I’ve attached modern concepts or terms – my epithets are intended to be additions to, not replacements of, the traditional epithets, so I haven’t included anything that’s already explicitly covered. These lists are extremely in-progress; I’ll try to remember to update them on here as I update them in my notebook. They’re also in English because I have roughly zero knowledge of Greek. (If anyone gets an itch to translate them all into Greek, um, friggin go for it, but I’m not holding my breath :P)

I have feelings about Athena, which is fair since she’s (one of) my patron(s), so this list may end up much longer:
Athena of the libraries
Athena of research/Athena of the universities
Athena of City Hall
Athena of the Riverwalk
Athena of museums
Athena of teachers
Athena Frenchman
Athena of Hollygrove (for reasons, okay)
Athena of the levees
Athena of canals
Athena of the Coast Guard
Athena of the National Guard
Athena of air-conditioning (I CAN’T BELIEVE I ALMOST FORGOT THIS)
*A note on the bajillion little festivals and stuff we have: I don’t have “Athena of the French Market, Athena of French Quarter Fest, etc” all listed, because I feel like Athena Erganê covers all of that, and I’m just trying to see what I can add in terms of epithets. Likewise, Athena Hippia for the Fairgrounds is almost certainly a thing, but again, that epithet already exists, so it’s not on the list.
I see Aphrodite in the angle of your cheekbones. In the rolls of your belly. In the motion of your wrist when you tell an exciting story.
Aphrodite smiles at me through the impatient half-smile you make when waiting. Through your eyes when they are blurred with tears. Through the glowing of your hair in the afternoon sun.
She beckons me closer with your voice that is tired from work. With your voice that is shrill with excitement. With your voice that is coarse with some left-over sleep.
I see Aphrodite in you. She loves you in a way that I can only dream of, and I already love you with all the love my soul can ever give. She knows my love. She put it there.
Now She wants you to love yourself for all that you are for She loves you. And Her love is never wrong.
I wish I could write like this…this is so beautiful
You don’t need a special relationship with the gods to be a good worshiper or devotee.
You don’t need to be special to them. You don’t need to be touched from birth. You don’t need to be oathbound or a spouse. You don’t need to hear them with any kind of godphone.
You don’t even need to be chosen by the god. You can choose to worship them on your own.
It’s fine just to be a mortal. To give them offerings as a normal, everyday person. Those things up there, they’re okay things to have. But they’re not necessary to have a deep and fulfilling relationship with the gods.
Some dudebro posted a comment of a review for my devotional stating that Freyja probably finds it hard to relate to the reviewer’s demographic of “diverse whiners“ and I’d just like to say “Um, no?”
Freyja is not just a goddess for white, straight, affluent, cis, able-bodied people. She has done sex work. She has been a single parent. She wandered the nine worlds searching for her lost husband. She is a warrior and a kindly goddess who watches the rye grow. Heck, she taught Odin seidr, and seidr is very much associated with transgressing gender roles and queerness, and you should see the rest of her family, seriously.
I am baffled as to how someone could so completely miss the point of the devotional, and I’m pretty sure the contributors would have some choice words as well.
I’m terrified that if I tell people what I believe in they’ll give me the look
Or they’ll suddenly stop talking to me
Because hey look at that freak over there who believes in fairies and demons and mythological gods?
When people I want to be friends with who don’t believe in the same things follow me I hesitate before publishing each post about anything that could be interpreted as freaky

Dua Anpu, Lord of the Sacred Land! Dua Anpu, Guardian of the Dead! I ask that You guide your kin safely through the trials to come for their heart is lighter than any feather and they have earned their place in the Eternal Land beyond. [Name] is mourned and will never be forgotten; may their soul find peace at your side. Dua Anpu, Lord of the Sacred Land! Dua Anpu, Guardian of the Dead! [ I don’t…
I have found a multitude of resources for a Kemetic calendar year, but it is basically a free for all. It really comes down to what works for me and my version of Kemeticism. (Orthodoxy isn’t for me.) I found a source that has festivals listed for a version of the Egyptian calendar year with comparisons to the Georgian calendar year (here if you are interested btw: http://panhistoria.com/www/AncientEgyptianVirtualTemple/calendar1.html )
and it seems to be right up my alley. And thank the Gods for that cause I was starting to get frantic like my feline friend below.
