Upon laying eyes on the king, one of the young lady’s hand reached for the silk, of which her skirt was made, and curtsied politely. She had been told horrid things about the royal family, but he was her king nonetheless and no woman, high-born or not, could allow herself to disrespect him. “It’s and honour, your grace.”, Relena mumbled quietly, her gaze lingering upon the ground, it wasn’t until the head of House Targaryen had left, that the girl’s head lifted again.

For the briefest of moment’s the dark haired woman looked at the prince with a slightly raised eyebrow. “My father is not attending, my Lord.”, she informed him, her voice rather disinterested in the matter. “He had to tend to affairs in the Storm Lands.”, she then added, hoping this lie might take away from how rude it was of her Lord father to spurn a royal invitation.

So, Robert wasn’t here. Curious, but from what Viserys had heard it made sense that the Baratheon wouldn’t come when Targaryens still sat on the throne. “I see. Well, your mother is attending than?” He asked, looking around to try to see if he could spot the Lannister turned Baratheon but to no avail. “Come, seeing as you are without company, allow me to offer you a seat with my family. Wouldn’t want you to sit near any unsavory people.”

Viserys spoke as he watched how a few of the Lords were already leering at the Baratheon girl. “Or I could find you better company if you do not wish to sit with the Royal family” Viserys knew if someone had seen her and reported to Robert it might not bode well for her.

“There is no madness in wanting you to be happy after all you have suffered, brother. I want to give you that,” Daenerys replied with a small shake of her head. If this Dorne Princess could give him that, then she would plaster a smile on her face, but Viserys continues and her heart skips a beat to know that the Princess is not what he wants. Daenerys will do everything she can to find him the right bride, of course, but there’s a deep satisfaction to learn that Allyria will not be among the choices. There’s something slick and scheming about the girl that Daenerys doesn’t trust and the servants have told her about the Princess’s many ‘guests’ to her rooms. If Viserys lay with her, there would be no way to know if a child was his and that was a risk they couldn’t take. Her brother deserved someone who was true to him.

His low growl sent a shiver down her spin, but it was the gentle pressure of his fingers on hers that has Dany’s hand unclenching, fingers curling around his as her amethyst gaze lifts. Since their reunion in Meereen, the gaunt lines of his face have filled out and she’s very aware of his proximity, of the warmth of his lips on her cheek. “I’m not naive to what men desire, brother. She is a beautiful woman from a Great House. There’s no foolishness in being aware of that, ” Daenerys pointed out with a heavy sigh. Allyria was the complete package, all the things Dany couldn’t be. Her rule would continue to be a lonely one, but at least she could give Viserys more. “There is no reason to extend her stay and I have a request I would like you to consider that will alleviate your boredom. I would like you to train with Grey Worm, privately in Aegon’s gardens. Our brother, Rhaegar, trained with the very best swordsmen, after all. This is not a matter of pride – I do not want you to be at the mercy of your guards, as our father was.”

He knew he should have been wanting someone like Allyria, not only beautiful and of a Great House but also one that could produce an heir and his true heir unlike Allyria, for if he slept with her he would be another mark on her headboard and one she could toy with for longer than others. He knew he had an obligation to his house and his family to continue it on for a family of his own and yet…

He pulse quickened as she started to speak about knowing what men desired and for a moment he thought she knew what he was getting at and than it returned to a relative normal pace once she brought up Grey Worm and training, which was not a bad idea at all. He’d have to become better with a sword if he was to defend his name and his House no matter their army size or dragons. “Of course, I shall do so. I assume you’ve already talked with Grey Worm about this and it’s been arranged.” Viserys was thrown back a bit by her gesture but was thankful nonetheless for it and figured there would be no better time than the present to get started on training, after all one day late in anything on the battle field and you were dead. Least that’s something of what he could vaguely recall Ser Darry speaking of. “If you’ll excuse me”  Viserys excused himself, leaving the room soon after he gave a short dip of his head and left, seeing Allyria waiting for him in the same room, trying to call him closer and looking divine though a bit too obvious on her wants and he shook his head. and kept going to Aegon’s gardens and met with Grey Worm.

The training was more intensive than he had thought it would be and he had to remind Grey Worm, thankfully, only once, that he wasn’t like him or the other Unsullied given their radically different childhoods and Grey Worm eased up on the training.  Giving Viserys a small break now and than as they trained or rather, Viserys fumbled with the sword for the first twenty minutes and slowly got more control and was blocking Grey Worm’s parrys and slight of attacks while he had had him distracted by another movement. “You’re getting better.” Grey Worm spoke, giving Viserys a nod of approval when Viserys had landed a hit on Grey Worms’s sword arm. But that wasn’t the end of the training. Grey Worm had wanted him to do more physical training as well, putting him in Unsullied armour and having him get used to the weight as well as a many other things.

This continued on for a good few weeks until Viserys was able to physically wear the armor and move at a decent speed and wield a sword decently in combat. His last session of the day left him with more energy than he had thought for and took adrenaline into consideration and Grey Worm praised Viserys for now being able to at least defend himself against one solider and would be excited to see him improve more. Viserys though had thought one solider was enough but he knew that he wouldn’t always be up against one person. But for today the training was over and he removed the armor and felt lighter and he glanced up at the sky realizing it had turned to dusk and night was soon to fall.

He found Allyria Martell waiting for him and Viserys who was now shirtless and slight muscles where there had been none before glistened in the nearing moonlight. “Allyria.” He beagn in a hushed tone  “You’re beautiful but we both know you have an appetite that will not be satiated after a marriage.” Allyria gave a surprising acknowledgment of that and said she had left one of her guests in her room anyways and left, nearly forgetting to cover herself before her exited the tight corridor to that led to his room and Daenerys’s.

His fingers grasped the door knob and he walked into the room and a soft smile curled on his lips as he spotted just the person he wanted to see and walked further into Daenerys’s room, softly closing the door behind him and going to where she was barely registering her state of dress as the night had drawn closer. “Dany” He whispered, not wanting to speak any louder and frighten her if she hadn’t noticed his presence. “Grey Worms training has been wonderful! I can now successfully defend myself against one person. Though he is unsatisfied and I think he means for me to take on ten Unsullied at some point” Viserys chuckled. “I’d love to see any knight present or past fight against Grey Worm in a tourney. They’d all lose. Well, maybe not at jousting…” He mused before he shook his head and his gaze fell on her figure and he motioned to his own figure, showing off a bicep proudly. “Look, feel it, I have actual muscle now”

How could she think such things of him? After all he’s been through, seen and done to get back home to give it all away and live in Dorne?! Viserys shook his head, his silver blonde locks falling in his face as he heard her multitude of questions. “You know me too well to think I would give this all away and be some pet. She’s very easy on the eyes, but what she wants and what I want are two very different things.” He informed Daenerys as he watched her pour a drink only to set it aside. He noted how his next choice of words had seemed to quell the rage burning inside and he looked down briefly at the flooring beneath them.

“You are giving up too easy, my dragon blooded love.” his head tilted gently to one side as he gave her a questioning look unsure of what was going on in her head if she was so ready to give him over to the Dornish Princess. “She makes me happy, but- but not in the ways that matter. She’s just a friend, a friend who may want more from me but won’t find it.” He told her being brutally honest about this now, Allyria was nice and pretty but she’d never be what he truly desired, not since that night in the tent in the Dothraki Sea, not since she’d blossomed into a woman. “Look at you….making apologies and relenting to some crazed idea.” He gave a low chuckle, still trying to understand Daenerys and failing to do so. She was so different right now, shoulders sagged instead of straight and held back, like she would so often do. Holding herself like a Queen, like the royal she was meant to be and was.

“Daenerys” Viserys growled softly as he placed a hand on one of her clenched hands his fingertips trailed around the place the skin where her index finger and thumb connected hoping her hand would ease and allow him to grasp her hand in his. “You’re an idiot if you think I want to marry and love Allyria Martell like that.” His voice came out in a lower hush than he had expected and he gave a sigh as he placed a small kiss on her cheek before he pulled away ever so slowly.

Viserys was shell shocked by the ferocity of his sister as she spoke and
he let go of her arm as she tugged on it to be free. “Seven Kingdoms.
Dorne is one of those of the Great Houses…but you’re right, they need
you should they least fall to their own doom by their hands of the
lioness” he tried once more before he gave up as she went on and he
watched her reaction to being called jealous of Allyria and his mouth
dropped open when the Dornish princess was being accused of wanting to
bare his child and he soon clenched his jaw and gritted his teeth as she
tried to throw the past at him and make it a reversal.

“You just
seem jealous is all. You’ve never once acted like that with any woman
I’ve been around” He told her, taking a deep breath to calm himself.
“She won’t have a Targaryen babe in her because as you said, our
marriage alliance was dissolved when certain parties died and others
thought to be dead.” Viserys tried to wrap his head around his sisters
irrational behavior trying to make sense of it all.

“You
don’t seem right around her, especially when i’m around her. What would
you do if I did decide to marry her? Would you have her killed because
you for some reason cannot stand her near me, no…having her lie in bed
with me?” He questioned as he took steps towards her closing in their
distance so there was hardly any empty space between them. “You know I
love you Daenerys and I shall always be by your side, supporting you and
being there for you. But at some point… marriage alliances must be
made at some point down the line.”

There was a small embarrassed smile as he was turned back towards the mirror and he thought back to how he would do this very thing for Daenerys growing up and it brought back a mixture of good and bad memories. At the mention of Illyrio, Viserys frowned as he inspected her handiwork and gave a approving nod. “Yes, they took too much off but it’ll grow back” He replied “How long shall I grow it dear sister? As long as yours or perhaps a bit shorter?” He laughed, a low chuckle coming through though it was short lived.

As she spoke of her dragons, Viserys was still taking in the sights and beauty of the pyramid and gave nods to her instructions. He imagined the dragons of the past as they grew smaller had been more manageable and less terrifying, no more annoying than a dog. But these…The two dragons curled up were already a sight to see and it was close to bringing Viserys to tears and he was breathless.

And than there was Drogon, rising to meet his mother and he watched as the dragons moved and interacted and watched Dany touch the one she called Drogon and he felt as he was dreaming still, like he couldn’t breathe even if he had air forced inside his lungs. Viserys slowly put his hand out and placed it as was directed and ever so softly moved it up and down and that’s when he felt tears streaming down his cheeks as he tried not to get too choked up with emotions but he took a closer step getting bold now as he imagined the future that these dragons brought and meant for not only  them but for himself and Daenerys.

He felt Drogon huff as Viserys scratched his nose and a bright smile came to his face. “They’re beautiful Dany. Gorgeous. They are truly powerful and fearsome creatures yet I can sense their loyalty to you, their love. Drogon and you share quite the bond.” Viserys told her still in awe of the dragons and he pulled his hand back as Drogon shifted more.

He was bathed and while he didn’t soak for as long as he would have liked he was glad for the warm clean water and the idea of having a new set of clothes soon was a nice thought, though he tried not to get self-conscious  of his appearance around the unknown person, wondering how they would see the male Targaryen, he knew he was a bit more lanky than his sister and had lost just a bit of weight during his travel to Meereen and than he had dinner and it was just as their lunch had been, casual and informative.

And all too soon night came and so he fell asleep in what would be his chambers for the time being, the bed was a bit hard compared to what he had been used to with Illyrio but it wasn’t as bad as sleeping with the Dothraki had been that was for sure. In his sleep he dreamed of dragons and Dany, her descriptions of riding Drogon fuled his own dreams until in his dream he fell off the dragon, plumpeting and yet never reaching the ground and he woke with a start, feeling soft hands upon his face.

A mix of shock and fear in his eyes as they opened, his breathing hitched as he realized he wasn’t falling and he was safe and then closed briefly at the sound of Daenerys’s voice. “Dany” He spoke as he looked at her, noticing how she was dressed and the gown reminded him of one she wore back in Pentos. He sat up, the sheets falling away from his bare chest and he placed a hand on her face, touching her just to make sure he still wasn’t dreaming and his nightmare had turned into a dream.

She was here and he was awake, it was clear as he felt the warmth from her face and he placed a kiss on her cheek. “Good morning sister.” He purred as he slowly got up from the bed, his hand trailed off her face and down her shoulder briefly as he spotted a new set of clothes that had been set out for him and he slipped into them with ease, not bashing an eyelash at the fact he was changing, practically naked in front of Dany. “They fit perfectly…” He was amazed at how the fabric felt against his skin and how it was just right in the size after years of having clothing too tight or too big though the years.

“Have you come to wake me so I can meet your dragons?” He asked as he turned around to face her as he was done admiring his appearance in the mirror, fixing his hair and trying to decide if he wanted to braid it or not.

“We cannot change the past and I will not linger in it’s foul depths for only madness lies there, Viserys,” Dany told him, tilting her head to press her temple to his cheek. “I want to know who you are now so let us start anew.”

“What kind of adjustments would you make?” He asked, now invested in hearing about her plans for new laws and a new way of life. “You do realize the people of Westeros will have a hard to adjusting to such vast differences. Changing slavery over night didn’t work out too well, due to the attempts on your life and rebellion, and it would be the same in Westeros.” He reminded his sister though he had an idea that she knew that would be the case. “some things will be easier to change quicker….and of course I’ll stand by your side. We’re all we have left of family, of each other. I mean for us to be together for as long as fate will allow it.” He told her, shocked that she would think that he didn’t think anything of her.

“You’ve proven yourself to be more than to be seen as just a woman, Daenerys.” He made it a point for her to know that he saw her differently and would treat her as such. “I spent so much time looking to the past while wishing for a future that would come…Wanting the past to be the future.” Viserys gave a deep sigh and leaned his head on hers for a moment. “I can’t promise you that I’m not the same person I was before we parted ways, I cannot promise that there won’t so rage creeping in from time to time…” He took his head away from hers and went round to look at her, squatting down so he was more level with her.

“After I heard news of your death….my rage was burning hot and Illyrio saw the brunt of it but after the initial rage my grief quelled the fire inside. The immense loneliness I felt made me spiral into self reflection and I realized how horrible I had been to you and it hurt to know that it had been, at the time to my knowledge…that your last moments would have been thoughts and memories of my cruelty.” He glanced down at his hands wringing them together as he spoke. “But what I can promise is that i’m trying. I’ve changed and maybe not one hundred percent and I trust you will call me out if my behavior is out of line.”

Viserys slowly stood to his full height and took some of the food and began to ate, tasting the deliciousness that had been provided and a smile came to his lips. “Even illyrio couldn’t provide such lush fruits. It’s a shame we’ll have to leave this place so-” He was interrupted by one of Daenerys’s handmaidens who had walked in the room, informing her that Viserys’s room was ready. “Oh wonderful, that was fast!”

Curiously the raven haired lady looked around, never before had she attended a tourney and never before had she been in the capitol. Her father wasn’t too fond it, or rather the people you could find here, for his distaste for the ruling family was more than just well-known.

Rhaegar held a tourney to celebrate his son, Jon’s name day and was presently surprised at the turnout of Lords and Ladies. The King shepard his younger brother onward, and spotted the daughter of Cersei Lannister and Robert Baratheon and an idea sparked as he heard Viserys grumble about not being able to participate in the tourney itself and Rhaegar shook his head and sighed “You may be old enough to do so but you hardly lack the skills to take on Ser Loras or either of the Clegenes. Maybe you could go against one of the houses older lords…Like Waldar Frey. You could best him.” Rhaegar snorted as he joked, and Viserys laughed, finally relenting on the idea.

“Now, go and enjoy yourself. Entertain a lady or something. Just don’t get in trouble.” He told Viserys as he made eye contact with Relena and dipped his head. “Lady Relena? Might I introduce my brother, Viserys.”  Viserys bowed slightly as he greeted the Lady and before he knew it he was left alone with her, Rhaegar having quietly excused himself when the crowd cheered loudly for the winner of a joust.

“I’m surprised your father is here this year at the tourney. He generally avoids such invitations.” Viserys started, trying his best to make polite conversation. “Is he in the tourney itself?” It would be a wonder to see the man who was proclaimed to be a grand fighter and see him best against the likes of Ser Jaime and Ser Selmey. “I wish I could be down there right now…”
