Would Renly still be alive if Robert actually lived longer? Not having the woman of fire make a demon baby to kill him?

I think he would still be alive, if I recall correctly he didn’t want to become king on his own accord, he mostly wanted to help the Tyrells make Margaery the queen, since he seemingly tried to get Robert to get rid of Cersei for her and if Ned doesn’t support Stannis accusation that Joffrey isn’t Roberts child, most lords would probably just see Stannis as a greedy secound son trying to profit off of his brother’s death, with less support to the incest claim it is much less risky for the Tyrells to offer Margaery to Joffrey and without the Tyrells support Renly would have no chance to get the crown

Yes, I think if there was no challenge for the crown Renly wouldn’t be in a position where he would be killed by the shadow thing. As for where the Tyrells and Margaery fit into this, I can see Mace trying to get her in there somewhere. If Joffrey’s legitimacy was not an issue, I think Ned would still keep the arrangement with Sansa and Joffrey. If they’re still desperate and willing then Margaery and Tommen could still be arranged, and I’ve seen Robb and Myrcella floating around, which could be a good move aside from Myrcella and Trsytane was a very good political match with Dorne. Idk this started being about Renly and ended with arranging marriages so idk

Even if Sansa and Joffrey do continue on with the engagement, she’ll know he’s a bit of a monster. Would Ned allow it? Would even Robert push for it?

I’ve definitely been wrestling with this. Ned is torn in my head- on one hand, Sansa, his daughter, marrying a boy that could quite possibly hurt her or put her in a situation to be hurt. On the other, his code of honor- he’s already entered into negotiations on the subject of their marriage, and can’t really go back on it with no good reason (and tbh in Westeros a violent spouse is just something a lot of people live with). I just thought of this though- maybe Ned backs Sansa out of the marriage by making Margaery/the Tyrells a better option? Making it seem like he’s being gracious in giving up his daughter one day being queen? But I feel like he’d also feel bad for putting Margaery, or any girl, in that situation with Joffrey. But on a third hand (lol) someone does have to marry him. Someone/someone’s family will accept the risk of his behavior with their daughter in with the gain of claim to the throne. Does that make sense?

Yes, I agree with that. An maybe if Marg and Joff does go on, Myrcella could still go to dorne or as we suggested earlier, Robin. Arya could marry to Tommen? Robb could marry Yara or Daenerys (taking Jon’s place if he stays at the wall/dies/doesn’t die/is revived….if Jon is revived would he go back to Winterfell and would he learn about his parentage and be like hey guys the night king….Rickon could be arranged to marry Shireen or Bran. Or hell. Myrcella is in Dorne with Trys and Shireen could be arranged to be Robin’s wife. As if Relena dies and joff +siblings found out to be incest which could ruin arranged marriages….Stannis and children are heirs to the throne.
