Still he’d survived it all and the Tullys had come North for the wedding; instead of the ceremony being in her Riverrun’s sept it would be in Winterfell Godswood. “Brandon!” Benjen had said both his brothers would be home soon but she’d not expected it just a matter of days after she’d arrived. “Benjen sent word to Father you’d be here soon, we only just arrived ourselves.”
They’d finally be married after putting it off yet another year. Most maids married by seven and ten and she was uncomfortably closer to twenty than nine and ten.
“You’re ho-” A baby? “What is that?”
“I’m glad you are here.” Brandon said warmly as she neared her and his dark eyes drifted towards the babe and back to Cat. “It’s a baby. It’s not mine, or Eddards…I think we should speak in private.” He gave a nod to Eddard who grimly nodded back and greeted Benjen and they walked off to leave the two of them alone. “Can we talk in the Godswood?” He asked as he held on to the babe protectively, unsure of what Cat would do or say about this. He could oly imagine she thought he had slept with another woman and this was his bastard. He couldn’t blame her for anything ill she thought of him or the babe.
Once they sat at the Godswood, he stared at the face of the white tree and looked at the babe as he gently rocked him to hush his cries. “His name is Jon.” He started “He’s my nephew, Eddard and Bejen’s as well. He is Rhaegars son Cat.” He still was in shock from the very ordeal itself, not being able to save his sister. “He’s Lyannas son.” Tears welled up in his eyes as he thought of his sweet young sister. His only sister, barely hanging on as she made him promise to take care of the babe. “Robert can never know the truth. He’d kill the babe as the Mountain killed his half siblings.” He now looked at Cat “We are to marry soon…I know this is not what you had imagined, me being gone for as long as I had nor my nephew in tow. But can you accept this?”
“Does she now?” He asked curiously. Well she’ll find herself wrong with me.” Viserys watched her carefully, not letting her out of his sight for long and he hadn’t slept much, even knowing her blood rider had been in her room for the past days, day and night, he still was fought with worry. “No….me? There’s no way Drogon would ever listen to me. Besides, I feel your Dothraki would follow Drogon over me.” He joked, shaking his head softly before worried eyes looked at her as she spoke more. “Rest. Think not of my needs. You focus on getting better. For more than two days.” He told her as he did as she asked and gingerly got on the bed and stroked her hair. “Of course I am. At any rate, the training went well, I went up against Grey Worm and Red Lizard. It was not easy and I didn’t win but it was good training.”
He paused for a moment as he thought back on how the meeting had gone. “Well, Lady Tyrell asked for as many as you said, I gave her six thousand and when she began to protest I reminded her that she had come crawling to us and we protect what is left of her Houses legacy and hold. Than I told Allyria she would send for her forces. She was shocked by my demand and I told her, ‘
“You have been here and offering your support and while your words mean
well to our cause but it will do nothing to aid the war. After all your
Uncle Obyren got himself killed using more words than actions fighting
the Mountain.” ‘ She than sent a raven to Dorne and they are sending their forces as we speak.” He told her proudly. “See, you can leave me in charge and nothing will fall to pieces. Oh and the extra thousand will be for the surrounding area of High Garden like the Roseroad and such to make sure the other holds in the reach are not touched and destroyed by the Lannister Army. Tyrion’s idea after I had given the number to Olenna.”
Viserys eyed the wound she had and he couldn’t help but still feel worried and fret over her. “i’d really like it if you didn’t do much of anything for a good week, until the Maester fully approves of the wounds healing, a blow like that…It could have been far worse. Which! reminds me” He said as he looked at the armor set that had been laid across her bed on the end of it and he reached over to grab it and showed it to her. “If you are going to ride a large moving target you should be protected. And mind you I think all three dragons should also be outfitted. It’d be a shame for them to take too many an arrow to the underbelly or wing in the right place and be shot down.” He warned, worried about the beasts she called children. “I know it won’t be like wearing your Dothraki clothing but it’ll keep you safe. I train with Grey Worm and you will wear this, deal?” He asked, though it was less of a question and more of a demand. “Shall I send for food? Soup perhaps? Or something easy to eat?”
‘ DOMERIC!” alina exclaimed, excitedly as she hugged her big brother. “domeric, i’m … i’m so glad you’re okay! i’m so glad!” she exclaimed, hugging him harder. “thank gods — thank all of the gods for this.”
“Ali~!” Domeric grinned as he hugged his younger sister, bringing her up in a sweeping circle as he hugged her before he let her down to the ground. “I’m glad for that too. I missed you sweet sister.” He placed a kiss on her cheek and held her closer, fearing if he let go she would be gone forever. “How have you been?” He asked as he slowly pulled away, a hand gently caressed her cheek giving her a good once over “You look well.”
“As I would worry for you, brother,” Dany replied, enjoying the soft brush of his hand on her back. “But the frightened girl you knew died on the Dothraki Sea. The Unsullied have been mine for two years. In Essos, they are withoutpeer. Each is worth five Westerosi soldiers and for every soldier, there are nine farmers pulled from their fields to defend their bannerlords. Five thousand is twice more than she needs, but I can spare them for now,” Daenerys explained patiently. Her brother had no experience leading an army, but she had done so successfully across Essos for two years, as easily from horseback as dragon. By asking Viserys to sit in on the meeting, she was giving him a chance to learn and perhaps, to see if he could follow her lead.
“You must trust me in this, Viserys. I will not sit back while my people are fighting for me and I know I can remove Euron before our fleet can be threatened, so I will,” she told him in a light tone. The Unsullied were specialists and she had plans for the remaining Unsullied to lead the siege of King’s Landing, though this Dany did not tell him. “I have not forgotten that it was you who taught me of this land, but their way is not myway,” Dany added as he rose from the bed first. She drew on her robe and rose, making no response about the evening. Once Viserys left her chambers, servants brought hot water for her bath and she washed the evidence of their mating from her body before dressing in her Dothraki leathers. Her hair was braided with tiny, silver bells and Daenerys had a brief word with Missandei before going out to Drogon.
The flight over the sea was a quiet one until the fleet was spotted, then she urged Drogon down with Rhaegal following. The dragons split off and came at the fleet from both sides, weaving around one another and ships were already turning to ash when the first flurry of arrows rose from the others. The smoke and flames obscured her vision and the first sting of pain on her left arm came out of nowhere. Drogon soared above the smoke and Dany saw the tear in her leather tunic with the cut beneath while her dragon roared furiously. Below, she saw a man, a big man wearing a crown, standing boldly on the bow of his ship with a longbow in hand. Euron. Rhaegal was banking, all but three ships now aflame, when another arrow whippedpast her head and she understood, he was listening for her bells. Shouting, Dany and Drogon dove right for the man, who took aim again fearlessly. The loosened arrow hit her in the shoulder and then Euron was gone in a cut off scream and a bath of dragonfire.
‘Home,’ Daenerys thought, her grip on Drogon’s spikes tight as he banked hard with Rhaegal close beside. The island was barely in sight when Viserion came out to ‘greet’ them and she was surprised to see her brother on his dragon. She hadn’t had much time to teach Viserys what she knew about dragonflight, but right now, Drogon was racing back to the island. He came down hard and his massive muzzle swept back with low chuffs as Daenerys climbed gingerly down his wing unaware of any discord between Viserion and her brother. She heard his joke before turning, her face slightly paler than normal with the fleck end of the arrow sticking out of her left shoulder, and the leather of her tunic was darker around the spot. “Drogon ate them all,” Dany teased weakly reaching out to her brother as her step faltered. “Vis, I think… Maester.”
He hadn’t noticed her wound at first and he cursed himself for not doing so as he heard her words and catching her before she stumbled any further and he scooped her up in his arms and rushed as fast as he could inside the keep yelling for the maester and brought her where he was directed to by the older man and refused to leave his sister’s side.
The maester eventually giving up and he saw her advisors looking on in worry and the moment purple hued eyes spotted one of them entering the room and he lashed out like a wild dog protective over a kill, teeth bared and eyes wild.
“Get. Out. All. Of. You.”
Viserys stood up as the smaller of her advisors Tyrion stepped forward. The courageous fool he was and Viserys nearly went into attack mode before he heard Dany’s faint mummers and he stopped short, the Lannister trying to speak sense into which would only sink in later after Dany was taken care of by the maester. “You idiot. Going out there alone…you may not be the same girl in Pentos but that doesn’t mean your not invincible.” He huffed, burying his hands in his face and than wiped away the tears, smoothing his hair back as the Maester spoke to him about her condition and he went out of the room, where everyone had been waiting in the hallway.
“She’s going to be fine but she’ll need rest and she may be in and out of it….you can go see her… I’m so-” Tyrion cut him off as he noted how Viserys was mainly looking at him as he apologized “Don’t worry, I’ve had worse in my life. You’re fine.” Viserys gave a nod and went to their smith though he didn’t know how well he did at working on armour he still asked for him to make his sister for armour that would fit her style and to get in touch with milissandi as she’d know her style and size better, but left instructions for it to be left on her bed when completed in the coming days.
Eventually he made his way back to Dany after checking on Drogon and Rhaegal, Drogon more so had been harder to do so with but he managed it with more fuss than he thought for. The dragons seemed fine, nothing life threatening at least. Everything seemed to blur together and he had no idea what had happened at what exact moment but he did remember the moment Daenerys’s eyes opened up again and he gave her the brightest and biggest smile since they had been children. “You heard the maester right? You are grounded for at least two days. More if I and anyone else has any say. Olenna suggested a week.” He informed her sternly. “You leave me to do the fighting alright?” He kissed her hand, relieved she was alive.

“Yes, did you?” He asked as he laced his fingers with hers as she talked of Euron Greyjoy and how he was leaving Viserion here. “I always worry about you. Mother of Dragons or Khalessi of the Great Army, it matters not. I’m your older brother. It’s my job. But yes, I shall take your place.” Viserys assured his sister as he trailed his hand up and down her back absent mildly.
“No more? Are you sure? ten is quite a bit but five seems a bit low. What if there’s more forces than we thought for? Euron’s fleet as a distraction?” He warned, not wanting to push anything and argue but it was always a possibility. I can get Allyria to stop her evasiveness.” He offered before placing a kiss on her hand as it moved his hair away. “You forget I too was and am Westerosi since I was eight, nearing nine.” Viserys sighed as he sat up more. “Yes, we are not them but they are not us.” He warned Daenerys once again. “You should get ready than, as should I.” Viserys slowly shifted more while he wanted to stay in bed with her all day he knew that they couldn’t do that in reality, they had too many obligations. “I enjoyed last night.” He mentioned casually as he leaned in to kiss her lips softly and quickly before he made his way out of the bed and gathered his clothes from the night before, slipping them on with ease.
He knew soon Grey Worm would be waiting for him so he made his leave, in a wonderful mood that had been in part to his night with Daenerys and they cut their training short so Viserys could get ready for the meetings and change into new clothes and he watched for Missandei’s reactions and listened to Olenna Tyrell and glanced at the Dornish Princess as she spoke still not saying anything on sending soldiers. “Lady Olenna, we shall not send ten thousand Unsullied,” he began, noting the approval on Missandei’s face before turning to slight confusion as Viserys went on “We shall send six thousand. No more.” Lady Olenna seemed not quite pleased with the number and he could tell she was about to argue before Viserys cut her off. “Lady Tyrell, do not forget you came to us and we are sending our army to protect High Garden.” Olenna seemed to quiet down and accepted the negotiation with no more qualm.
“Princess Allyria, you will send your soldiers from Dorne to aid us.” The Princess seemed shocked by the demand and he could see it clear as day on her face. “You have been here and offering your support and while your words mean well to our cause but it will do nothing to aid the war. After all your Uncle Obyren got himself killed using more words than actions fighting the Mountain.” It was a low blow he knew, but he knew that he and Dany, more so Dany was angered by how the Dorne Princess didn’t give the support that was required and so drastic actions were needed. Viserys found the faces of everyone in the meeting room were left shocked that he had gone to that point and he could see form the corner of his eye Missandei trying to work out damage control but Allyria’s steely gaze held to Viserys’s and she gave a long sigh before agreeing to actually do something and send for her men to join. “Thank you, Princess. Now, if that’s all I shall commence this meeting.”
Missandei spoke with him though the halls as they walked outside of Dragonstone and gave him counsel and he shrugged his shoulders. “It may not have been what Dany would have done but that just means we are not the same and have differing way of handling things.” The advisor couldn’t argue about their differences and eventually they parted ways after speaking more and Viserys spotted Viserion in the near distance and made his way to the cream dragon and scratched his scales gingerly before the dragon knelt down and Viserys climbed on top the dragom, both now looking for Daenerys and the other two dragons. What he didn’t expect was for Viserion to take off and greet the dragons and his mother. They hadn’t done much if any flying together, just recetly becoming bonded but not like Drogon and Dany had so this was all new for Viserys and while it was exhilarating to be up so far in the air he couldn’t help but feel sick and he lurched as he tried to stay on Viserion as it flew, before following them back down to the ground.
“Next time warn me before you do that” Viserys snapped at the dragon as he stumbled down, glaring back as he made his way to Daenerys and the dragon just chuffed at him annoyed that Viserys was angry with him. “So, are we having cooked squid for dinner?” Viserys asked, a smirk on his face as he tried to ignore the queasy feeling in his stomach.
