1. Her first major novel (Northanger Abbey) was written solely because she was so salty about how dramatic and cliche and formula Gothic novels were. You know what I mean. Every castle is foreboding. Every villain is awful but can’t bring himself to kill the heroine because she’s Too Pure. Every middle-aged female companion wants to do the heroine in. The heroine is Pure and Perfect and Is Good At Everything Young Women Should Be and recites quotes and/or the Bible whenever she’s in danger and that makes everything better. All butlers are evil. Jane Austen wrote a book specifically to go “THIS is how NORMAL people react to things!!!”

venom isn’t supposed to be some cinematic masterpiece that features amazing cinematography from a christopher nolan film. sometimes i wanna watch a ridiculous and semi-romantic anti-hero film about a symbiote who inhabits the body of an investigative reporter and develops a love for tater tots and chocolate. like ugh maybe if y’all stopped acting like being a cinephile is a personality y’all would have fun.
I don’t think many people realize how evil Judge Frollo is, it’s not about him killing Quasimodo’s mother or trying to kill the gypsies, it’s more about him not realizing that he’s bad or doing anything wrong, he actually thinks that he’s a ’righteous’ man, that he’s doing everything good and that god will award him for his good deeds and punish Esmeralda for her bad deeds, and the way he convinces Quasi that he’s ’ugly and deformed’, Frollo can be anyone among us now !
