How normal people play RPGs: explore and enjoy the story while making the choices that they like the best, replay the game to see what could have happened differently

How I play RPGs: find one and only love interest, get together with them, take all the choices that LI approves of, replay game 3 times only to recognize that all playthroughs were the same (because you couldn’t make yourself romance different LI)

I really really really hate that I have to be one of those people making one of those posts. but honestly.. I’m running out of options. to make a very long story short, my dad is dying. he got admitted to the hospital about a month ago before his initial double hip replacement only to find out that he is in total kidney failure. and to top it all off, he got laid off because he can’t work because he can barely even walk. and he doesn’t quality for unemployment because he has been an independent contractor for too long. we have no income coming in. I have a full time job, but it doesn’t pay that much. I’ve had to shoulder the responsibilities of running the house, paying the bills, everything, with my minimum wage job…. I don’t know what to do. I know none of this is any of your guys problem, but this is my last resort, so I figured it couldn’t hurt. I’ve even considered going on one of those sugar baby websites to get some extra money for us lmao. honestly.. anything will help at this point. and I am more than happy to provide proof. even if it’s just $5. hell, even if it’s just $1 or some kind words in my inbox. but just in case, my paypal is nproudltd@yahoo.com and my venmo is nproud. please, even if you can’t donate, reblog this to get it out. I really appreciate every single one of you that took the time to just read this. thank you. ♡

If you ever think you have a bad habit of writing yourself into a corner, just remember: after retconning the Minions from being mad science creations from Gru’s lab to being immortal beings from the dawn of time who are driven to obey the world’s most evil monsters, the writers of the Despicable Me franchise were forced to come up with a reason why the Minions wouldn’t have served Hitler. Like, there’s an explicit plot point explaining this.

please tell me how they explain this

They spent 150 years in exile in the Arctic as
self-imposed

penance for accidentally shooting Napoleon with a cannon and consequently missed both World Wars.

The great part about that is the implication that, had they been around in the ‘40s, the Minions would have totally served Hitler.

One of my favorite things about history is how little bits of it are preserved through traditions and mythology and we don’t even notice it. Like how we still say “’Tis the season” at Christmastime. Who says ‘tis anymore? No one, it’s dead except in this tiny phrase. I had a friend once tell me that she noticed the only group of people who could consistently identify a spinning wheel were girls between the ages of 4 and 7. Why? Sleeping Beauty. There are little linguistic quirks that have been around for centuries, bits of slang we use that people 400 years ago would recognize, but unless you showed someone a 400 year old dictionary, they’d never believe it. Whispers of the past are always there.

Words preserved through idioms are actually called Fossil Words! Here’s a Wikipedia article listing a bunch of examples
