Viserys growled at the mention of his father. “I know what he did, Relena. You need not go into more of what he did. I know he killed people with no justice given. They may be. Maegor the Cruel ruled and then Jaehareys I ruled. Called
Conciliator, the Wise one, the longest ruling monarchs on the throne.” His voice started out angered and frustrated but calmed towards the end. “I would not be my father. There are lessons to be learned in a monarchs rule. You’ve learned from your own father’s mistakes have you not? I’ve learned from mine.”
“I will not lie to you. I am here to reclaim my throne. What I was promised since birth and named as it’s king during the rebellion. I wouldn’t know what to do with the gold as i’ve spent long enough without even a lesser houses gold. The glory…perhaps. The castle was my home, should have been Daenerys’s as well.”
Viserys paused listing to her speak once more about earning her trust and about his sister. It was true, they had proved such. But he felt he had proved himself just as much when he ruled Yunkai. He’d gotten rid of the slavery and for a short time brought peace to the people, attempting to reform the city to be better than the slave masters before they left for Westeros, leaving his trusted advisors in charge. “I ruled Yunkai. I was King there and the people were happy with my rule. The slavers gone and the slaves freed. I made way for stability and reformation to start over. Build a better world then the one our parent’s and grandparents left it. That’s what I want.”
He stated giving his own words of his time across the sea. Hearing her speak about not having a place she loved in the keep made him frown. “I see.” He thought of what they could do and he wondered if he could recall any of his favorite places in the keep, finding he couldn’t think of any. “We could go to-” He almost suggested the Godswood but remembered she didn’t want to be in the gardens. “We could just go inside? No particular place, perhaps just wonder around? Maybe visit the Sept?” He suggested.

As she yanked her arm back and yelled at him, Viserys stood his ground. “I think you could.” He answered after a long moment of silence, watching her turn around. Viserys was waiting for her to leave, but when it seemed like she wasn’t he thought back on what she had said before the guard encounter. “I haven’t read that book nor many…I never had the luxury of reading much after my exile. I lost joy in it.” He admitted, his voice low and he shook his head, his silver hair hung in his eyes for a second before he pushed it back. “It may very well be a backwards way to look at things, but you are right. The ruler may rule but he does not rule without the people.”
Viserys stayed put where he was, knowing she was saying and doing all of this because it was his right as her guest, and he was still trying to shake the feeling of anger and frustration from earlier. Viserys felt the sun on him, the breeze coming by again and he walked closer to Relena, unsure about what to say now and he rubbed the back of his head.
“I knew in the back of my head, that coming back here, I would receive the same words I heard my whole life. That not everyone would welcome me back after what my father did and who he was.” He started “But, I had hoped more would be welcoming to my rule once more…Not this” He vaguely gestured to the guard and his companions. “I’ve been called the Begger King, mocked and degraded not only by my own people but by the people in Bravvos and the Dothraki-” Viserys began talking steps closer to Relena. “I had to sell the last piece of home and my family to survive. To help feed my sister and I. My mother’s crown. A symbol of royalty, pride…” His eyes watched birds as they flew around the gardens, trying to keep himself composed.
“Relena. I don’t trust you. I want to. I want to put our father’s feud behind us. My father’s actions and your father’s rebellion. Had I been older and Rhaegar not in his own battle, I’m sure we would have seen our father for the Mad King that he was and gotten rid of him. But what-if’s won’t change. What can change is…us.” He dared to look at her now, his body turned to face her. “I’m Viserys Targaryen, third of my name, named King after my father and brother’s death. An you, named Queen after your father’s death. I see how this country has prospered and grown in my father’s absence and I don’t wish to see that gone.” In truth he wanted his life back. What he thought made him, who he was. A throne and a crown. “Show me your favorite places, I care not where. Too much has changed in the keep…” It no longer felt like home. No dragon skulls adorning the great hall. It was colder and yet inviting and warm. “I’d like to see it for what it is now; Being of your family.” He gave a weak smile, after all his feelings had come fourth and he needed a distraction before he fell apart in front of The Usrper’s daughter.
When he heard the news, his mouth had dropped open. His sister was serious. He scoffed at her when she used his own words of a marriage proposal against him and his mouth closed once more. He paced around the gardens, his hands behind his back momentarily before he reached out with a hand to look at a flower before sighing, his eyes glancing up at the sky. It was his own words that had gotten him in the position and while it hadn’t been the ideal way to go about getting what he wanted, he figured this was the most diplomatic way to go about it all.
His name spoken by her, made his snap out of his thoughts as he approached her and saw her hand rise, he took it in his own, tenderly holding on to it as his lips pressed to the fair skin of the woman. “Relena.” He greeted, trying his best to sound warm and inviting, offering his arm for her to take. He by no means expected her to but figured it would be the right thing to do as Jorah and Tyrion had mentioned a few things on the subject of courting a woman. “I am….I too hope you are having a more pleasant day.” Viserys cringed at his own words. How awful and awkward those words sounded, he glanced at her, watching for her reaction until his eyes caught a bird in the path way and took in the air as a breeze drifted through.
“I’ve missed this.” He commented. “The air. I never thought I would. Silly almost.” A hint of a smile ghosted his lips as he spoke. “Traveling from place to place, outrunning those who’d harm my sister and I…I never stopped to take anything in.” Viserys breathed deeply, exhaling with a pleased sigh. “Everything in King’s Landing…Even the stench of Flea Bottom and the surrounding areas…Even that smells better then some of the places I’ve been” Viserys’s eyes were back on Relena and just as his shoulders relaxed, they tensed up, his guard had been brought down momentarily by memories and his violet eyes focused on the path in front of them. “How has court been for you before our arrival?” He asked, trying to think of things to ask.
For a moment the girl stared at his arm wondering how rude she would seem and how displeased her hand would have been if she had she not accepted it. Therefore, barely able to hold back a sigh, she reached for the arm he had offered her. Relena blinked a few times and tilted her head upon hearing Viserys’ rather strange words. “The day has been very agreeable.”, she said, the world slowly leaving her mouth, still slightly taken by surprise by his statement.
For a moment the queen lowered her head, as she listened to his words. She had to remind herself who he was, that he was the son of the Mad King, a traitor in fact and that back then, when her father still ruled, it was necessary to find them, to get rid of him and his sister to secure the Baratheon reign and most of all, Relena had to remind herself that she could not feel any kind of pity of him or his circumstances.
She was the queen and even though he was here to court her, she could never forget that he would always remain her enemy.
“The court has always been pleasant.” What else was she supposed to say? Until she was crowned queen Relena had spent almost her entire life in one chamber, with only the company of her septa and her ladies occasionally tending to her and once she was queen everyone seemed to be bending over backwards to please her. "Though my courtiers enjoy walks through the gardens more than I do, but alas I cannot depraver them of their joys just because I do not share them.“, she said with a sigh, her gaze roaming through the flowers. Usually when she spent private time with a member of her court they invited her on a stroll through the gardens and most of the time she agreed, despite her neither enjoying the smell of the flowers nor the constant sun upon her pale skin.
He was about to speak, saying something about how it was nice that court had been pleasant when she spoke again, watching her gaze fall on the flowers. Visery’s ever so slowly began steering her away from the gardens. What else was he supposed to do? If this were Dany he’d have done the same thing, least now he would have. Before his near death experience maybe he wouldn’t have been so inclined to. Telling her how he’d wanted to spend more time here and to not wake the dragon. “What…What do you enjoy doing?” He finally asked as they were farther from the gardens, once again approaching the keep.
He had some notion of what Ladies would do but not enough to be fully knowledgeable on the subject and he hated going to Jorah and Tyrion for any more advice on these things then he already had done. Viserys wondered if they along with Dany were watching them from far away, most likely betting on his downfall. Relena and his sister seemed to be on fairly good terms and this only angered him more and was part of the reason why he was here now. To prove multiple points to people. He wasn’t like his father, he could woo a girl, and he didn’t have anger issues.
“We can go do and be anywhere you’d like…I just suggested the Gardens for my own reasons.” Viserys told the dark haired beauty, stopping briefly under the shade of the trees. He remembered her words she had spoken to him in the Great Hall, she was right, he had acted like a child. But could she really blame him? What was his, what made him…ripped away from him. His life, his family…Even if he gained Dany by losing his mother…He was a child who was crying out and never got what he wanted and now that he was older and in better circumstances he was going to change things.
“After all you are the Queen” He said sighing and giving a half roll of the eyes, half joking with her, or at least his attempt at one. Viserys was horrible at courting. He had no idea how any of this worked. He’d really only been half instructed and now the other half was just blindly going about it. It wasn’t till a guard nearby made a few too many comments about Viserys and from what he could hear, about his sister as well that he almost forgot all manner and decorum, leaving Relena to confront the man but as he was about to take more steps further, his fist clenched, his jaw stern and his eyes blazing, he stopped himself.
“Let’s go.” He ordered Relena, grabbing her hand in his, not knowing where he was going expect he wanted to be far from the guard and his thoughts on what he would have liked to do or at the very least say. He dropped her hand as he realized he’d dragged her, practically, away from the nice shade of the tree and gave a frustrated sigh. Just when he thought things were going well, he had to ruin it.
Viserys was stunned by this woman. His face flushed as the eyes of the court were on him and he started to step down from his steps that had been closing in on her. “My father was not a good man. I can admit that. But I am not him. I wouldn’t do what he did to the people he swore to protect” Viserys spoke softer now. At her words of his sister, his eyes dropped. “I’ve done things to get back here to where I am now. Not all of them have been good for my sister but Khal Drogo had an army. One I had hoped to use. I’m sure you know what they say about the Dothraki in battle…” Viserys stopped himself, he wasn’t trying to make what he did seem right, justifying what he had done to Daenerys but he had no other choice back then, he was running out of options at the time and when the opportunity arose he knew he had to take what he could get.
He loathed the idea of sending Daenerys but it seemed like he only choice he had. Here he was, yet again feeling like he had during his time with the Dothraki. Second to his sister, his jaw clenched momentarily as he scrunched up his lips and nose making his decision. “As you wish.” His voice became even once again and he began to descend down the stairs with no choice but to accept defeat. He knew any attack on her would not bode well for himself or Dany and he would be seen just like his father. Viserys held his head high and carried himself like a the proper King he was and meant to be as he walked by the court. Some booed him, calling him the Begger King. Others threw an array of insults and one cook threw a tomato at him, landing square on his face and yet Viserys kept walking, his face remained unchanged as he signaled for his guards to keep on following him as one had went towards the cook, hand on his sword about to pull it out to attack.
Viserys went to Daenerys, telling her what had transpired. He noticed the look of disappointment and he shrugged, wiping the tomato off of his face. Telling her it must be simply the fancy of the Usuper’s daughter to see what a true queen was like, Viserys’s voice bitter as he spoke, watching Dany leave him to speak with Relena.
The moment she had agreed to this nonsense Relena already cursed the seven heavens. Allowing a Targaryen to court her, was almost sounded more pleasant than that. She was the most eligible woman in all of the Seven Kingdoms, and she was expected to settle for the son of a mad man, all because of giant lizards. But she was a queen, which meant that first and foremost she was a servant to her people and that was what she would do, no matter how much she despised it.
The young queen was in the garden’s of the Red Keep and oh how she would have loved to turn around and leave, to lock herself into her chamber until he was gone again, for she was certain that her own father was turning in his grave because of what she was about to do, Robert would have probably choosen war over this any day but then again her
father was never a great king, and she was determined to do better than he did.
“Viserys.”, the raven haired girl said, as soon as she saw the silver prince approach. She made a few reluctant steps towards him, forcing a smile upon her lips, while her hand rose. Had her Lord Hand not kept insisted upon her displaying all the courtesy that that was due for a suitor of the queen, the young stag would have probably remained frozen where she stood, unwilling to show him the slightest bit of hospitality, for she could perfectly recall how she hated her self for not appointing her grandfather, for the first time since she took the throne, when Lord Stark kept trying to persuade her. “I hope you are having a pleasant day.”
❛ Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your mind. ❜
❛ Your part is silent, little toad! ❜
❛ Perhaps it is you who are the toad… ❜
❛ Flattering child, you shall know me, see why in shadow I hide! ❜
❛ Seal my fate tonight. ❜
❛ I hate to have to cut the fun short, but the joke’s wearing thin. ❜
❛ Let the audience in. ❜
❛ God, give me courage to show you you are not alone! ❜
❛ Pitiful creature of darkness, what kind of life have you known? ❜
❛ I heard as I’d never heard before. ❜
❛ What you heard was a dream and nothing more. ❜
❛ Those pleading eyes, that both threaten and adore… ❜
❛ That voice which calls to me and speaks my name. ❜
❛ And do I dream again? ❜
❛ You have come here, in pursuit of your deepest urge. ❜
❛ I have brought you, that our passions may fuse and merge. ❜
❛ In your mind you’ve already sucummed to me. ❜
❛ Now you are here with me. No second thoughts. ❜
❛ Past the point of no return. ❜
❛ What raging fire shall flood the soul? ❜
❛ What rich desires unlock its door? ❜
❛ What sweet seductions lie before us? ❜
❛ Those who have seen your face draw back in fear. ❜
❛ Did you think that I had left you for good? ❜
❛ Down once more to the dungeon of my black despair! ❜
❛ You’ve past the point of no return. ❜
❛ You try my patience make your choice. ❜
❛ I gave you my mind blindly. ❜
❛ Wandering child, so lost, so helpless, yearning for my guidance. ❜
❛ Have you forgotten your Angel? ❜
❛ Wildly my mind beats against you… ❜
❛ Think of me, think of me waking, silent and resigne. ❜
❛ Imagine me, trying too hard to put you from my mind. ❜
❛ Can I ever forget that sight? ❜
❛ Can I ever escape from that face? ❜
❛ Past the point of no return – no going back now. ❜
❛ When will the flames, at last, consume us? ❜
❛ When will the blood begin to race? ❜
❛ I remember… there was mist. ❜
❛ Who was that shape in the shadows? ❜
❛ Whose is that face in the mask? ❜
❛ Damn you! You little prying Pandora! You little demon! ❜
❛ Is this what you wanted to see? Curse you! ❜
❛ Now you cannot ever be free! ❜
❛ Come. We must return. ❜
❛ Those two fools who run my theater will be missing you. ❜
❛ No kind word from anyone! No compassion anywhere! ❜
❛ Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime. ❜
❛ Lead me, save me from my solitude. ❜
❛ Say you’ll want me with you here beside you. ❜
❛ Anywhere you go, let me go too. ❜
❛ Can you even dare to look or bear to think of me? ❜
❛ Have you no pity? ❜
❛ Your lover makes a passionate plea. ❜
❛ Let your mind start a journey to a strange new world! ❜
❛ Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before! ❜
❛ Only then can you belong to me… ❜
❛ You alone can make my song take flight. ❜
❛ It’s over now, the music of the night. ❜
❛ Twisted every way, what answer can I give? ❜
❛ Say you love him/her, and my life is over! ❜
❛ Now, let it be war upon you both! ❜
❛ See you later, because I’m going now. ❜
❛ This haunted face holds no horror for me now. ❜
❛ It’s in your soul that the true distortion lies. ❜
❛ For the past three years, these things do happen! ❜
❛ And did you stop them from happening? No! ❜
❛ Why have you brought me here? ❜
❛ We can’t go back there. ❜
❛ I can’t escape from him/her/them… ❜
❛ Raise up your hand to the level of your eyes! ❜
❛ Refuse me, and you send your lover to his death! ❜
❛ Go now, don’t let them find you. ❜
❛ I fought so hard to free you! ❜
❛ Say you love me. ❜
❛ Your chains are still mine! You belong to me! ❜
❛ Wait! I think my dear, we have a guest. ❜
❛ I had rather hoped that you would come. ❜
❛ Free him/her! Do what you like only free him/her! ❜
❛ Does that mean nothing I love him/her! Show some compassion! ❜
❛ The world showed no compassion to me! ❜
❛ Did you think that I would harm him/her? ❜
❛ Too late for prayers and useless pity! ❜
❛ You little demon – is this what you wanted to see? ❜
❛ Farewell, my fallen idol and false friend. ❜
❛ Look around, there’s another mask behind you! ❜
❛ Please promise me that sometimes, you will think… of me! ❜
❛ Where in the world have you been hiding? ❜
❛ I only wish I knew your secret. ❜
❛ Who is your great tutor? ❜
❛ Why you spray on my chin all the time, huh? ❜
❛ The final threshold! ❜
❛ They say that this youth has set my lady’s heart aflame! ❜
❛ Go away, for the trap is set and waits for its prey! ❜
❛ There is no phantom of the opera. ❜
❛ Look, your future bride! Just think of it! ❜
❛ Please don’t, they’ll see. ❜
❛ But why is it secret? What have we to hide? ❜
❛ It’s an engagement, not a crime! ❜
