May Wesir Reedy have cool water, bread, incense, alabaster, bread and all his favorite foods and all good things that the gods live on
He was wrong- Shireen knew her men, and they were loyal and honest and true. “If that was the case, they would want to keep that child on the throne, surely, rather than serve a fully grown man who they can’t manipulate to the same extent? So, they would still support my claim.”
Shireen shook her head sadly. “I am sorry that Aegon and Rhaenys and their mother were killed, my lord, but it was Lannister men who murdered them, not Baratheon.”
Shireen gritted her teeth at his suggestion. “No!” She was a Baratheon, the rightful queen, and she would not be treated like an object to be disposed of at will, just because she was a child. She would never let him marry her off to a Frey, and she would never submit to a life of humiliation and despair, torn down from the position that was justly hers.
She was her father’s daughter- she was made of iron, and would rather break than bend. She would never give in to Viserys, no matter what he said or did. “I am no one’s ward.”
His threat towards her men made Shireen feel sick. She wanted to beg for mercy for them- but not yet. That would be an admission of defeat, and she was not defeated yet.
“I don’t believe this fight will need to be taken onto the battlefield. If there is to be a war, it will take place in this room. This matter can be settled right here, right now, between the two of us.”
She had a point, Viserys couldn’t deny it would be far easier to have a child on the throne. But if she was this self aware, he wondered for a moment how well these men could manipulate her? “Lannister men may have murdered them but the Baratheon sat himself upon the throne that was my right. After Prince Rhaegar’s death, after my father, King Aerys II’s death. I was King. Viserys Targayren, King of the Iron Throne. By right of sucession, I should have been there.” Viserys informed the young girl.
This girl had some determination. Viserys would not go down so easily and his head tilted to one side, trying to understand what she was talking about. “How so?” He asked, his voice losing a bit of it’s harshness. “Are we going to talk this out and draw up papers” He wanted to snort at the idea but if that was the case, he had to admire her, this child who wanted to avoid more death, if he was correct in thinking, would rather negotiate. “Negotiation instead of war?”
she shuddered, breath watery and trembling. she reached for him, trying her best to still and settle him. “brandon, please! you’re hurt. be still…” she couldn’t live with herself if another member of her family were to die for her naive foolishness. she moved to stand shakily before him, attempting to push his strong body back onto the bed. “i don’t know. your sword wasn’t with you when they brought you.” and they didn’t keep weapons in lyanna’s chambers, save the ones worn and carried by the appointed guards.
“I’ll be still when you are safe.” He snarled at his sister as he tried to block her as she came fourth as he managed to stand, he was caught off guard at her push and he sat back upon the bed, a grimace on his face. “Seven hells….” He needed a weapon. Needed to get them both out of this damn tower. “You are not staying here another moment. Lyanna.” Brandon stood again this time pushing past the pain as he looked out the tower window and saw Rhaegar’s guards, their backs to the tower. “What awaits us if we leave this chamber. Guards outside these doors?”

“Are you hurt Lyanna?” Those were his priories at the moment, his surroundings and if Lyanna was alright and- “Father…” Brandon struggled to sit up, holding back a grunt of pain as he did so as his mind raced. The last image he could remember seeing was their father about to be lit on fire…
He was about to tell her they had to go back, back to the red keep when he noticed his sister’s eyes. “I’m fine, Lyanna.” He told her as gently as he could “We have to leave this place. Away from the Targayrens…Pray to the Gods that father isn’t-”
she shook her head and tried to hush and settle him as he struggled to move. her strong, brave, wild brother — he deserved better than her for a sister. “he ——— f-father…” she choked out with a sob. rhaegar had been unable to save lord rickard, though he’d managed to collect brandon. her hands clasped at her brother’s. “i’m s-sorry, brandon…” when she shut her eyes, she saw her father burning, just as they said he’d done, her eldest brother struggling and nearly dying himself.
The way she spoke, the way she held her hand in his. He knew. It was up to him to lead their house, to protect his younger siblings. “You were abducted. Do not blame yourself for father’s death.”
He told the girl, finally resting a hand on her back to comfort her before he struggled to swing his legs over the bed side. “Where is my sword?” If they were going to leave, he’d like to do so armed and quickly.
“the prince calls it the ‘tower of joy.’”what an irony, she mused, eyes rimmed red and swollen from tears as she gently bathed at her older brother’s battered brow.
