The Fitness Cult

obsidianservant:

I always just thought about it in terms of physical fitness. Exercise is a good thing since there are all kinds of health benefits and I thought Father just wanted to ensure I’m physically healthy.

But being in the fitness cult is also about training the mind. Pushing yourself to get up and get moving when you’d rather not, forcing yourself to keep going when you want to quit, to do that extra push up, sprint those last few feet, trains you in endurance and confidence.
You become stronger in mind. You learn to break through those preconceived barriers you’ve set for yourself. “I can’t run a mile” turns into “I can run a mile” which couples with “I can’t get the future I want” to “I have the life I want.“

Thank you, Sobek-Ra, for training me and conditioning me. Thank you for giving me the confidence to try, the resolve to get back up when I fail and the determination to try again, both literally and figuratively. Thank you for believing in me and for training me to do the same. ❤

Sometimes, when Ra and the Netjeru are fighting a/pep, they lose.

The Egyptians thought that happened during solar eclipses. The sun always rose until the few times it didn’t and was swallowed by darkness right before their eyes.

There was fear and dread after Ra’s barque was destroyed. The Netjeru were wounded and exhausted. The people worried that the sun would never rise again.

But the Netjeru rebuilt their barque and gathered their weapons. a/pep might have won the battle, but They would win the war.

Semblance of Life.

Change is a cacophony. It is ten different music scores playing all at once and just slightly off-key and/or off-tempo. It is the pounding of a waterfall with a motorcade of motorcycles and every high-pitched dog barking at the same time. It is a garage band practicing some new song while you’re passively aggressively playing Alice Cooper at top volume while trying to carry on a conversation. It…

it’s fall now and the days are getting shorter, so learn to love the dark.

wake up before the sunrise and watch it burn its way across the empty sky. light candles and let sparks cast long, deep shadows. dance in your kitchen alone with nothing but the illumination of your phone screen. sit in bed and appreciate the way that closing your eyes makes the walls disappear, makes the world expand into infinity. purify yourself. the sun is gone, and it its place are a million possibilities folded in on each other, each one no thicker than a whisper

The Gods love you, little one. They love you so, so much, more than all the pebbles of the earth and all the stars of the sky. The Gods love you, you whom they called their child, you whom they embraced in stillness and light, you to whom they gave life, you whom they support and soothe and carry forward through your sorrows.

The Gods walk with you. Every day, every moment. They are in your breath, in your eyes, in your beating heart. For everything that surrounds you is a God, everything is infused with the divine, everything is interwoven and nothing is ever alone, even you, little one. The Gods will never abandon you, for abandoning you would mean abandoning themselves. Even death, your last companion, is one of them.

Breathe, close your eyes, and remember who it is by your side. You are brushing against the unspoken; eternity is in the palm of your hand. The endlessness of the universe and each of its tiny pieces is there, with you, within you. And that endlessness loves you. You, a child born of the earth and who will blow away with the wind, you are cherished by those who witnessed the beginning of time. The Gods love you, little one. No matter how many times you will need to be helped up, their love, like themselves, will never end.
