Odin could never take responsibility for his faults. He should lock himself in solitary confinement for eternity, like he has done to two of his children.
The major resentment I have for Ragnarok Thor is his continued worship of Odin juxtaposed with his degradation of Loki and Hela. He seems blind.
All of them are massive hypocrites. Odin is the worst hypocrite. Frigga is enabling. Loki and Hela are both in a spiral of hatred and lashing out because of Odin’s projection onto them and the mentally destabilising treatment they have received. They, just like Odin, refuse to take responsibility (although Loki literally says “I’m sorry” many times in TDW and even in TR, so that is debatable.)
And Thor? Thor is healthy enough that he should figure out this dynamic and know better; he is the hero after all. Thor should both save and lead his family in order to prove he is able to be a better king than Odin. But Ragnarok Thor chooses to continue the hypocrisy, because he is blind to the problem. He begs Odin for acknowledgement and guidance, while condemning his siblings as being “the worst.”
Dude. Odin is the worst.
