I know I’m gonna offend some shippers here but honestly I think Rachel and Tobias’ relationship was based mostly on being each others’ coping mechanisms and internal “proof” to themselves that they must not be a terrible person if someone like that could still love them. In a world without war, it wouldn’t have been more than a temporary mutual crush.
