Relena barely paid any mind to her husband’s words as she looked upon herself in the looking glass. Everyone always said how pregnant women were glowing, but all she could see was her already pale complexion had become even paler and to add on that she would soon swell like a farm horse. But upon hearing him talk about happiness, she turned her eyes slightly, to look at him through the mirror. “Fulfilling my duty makes me happy.”, the young queen informed her husband, as she finally turned around to look at him. “Are you happy?”, she wondered, her eyebrows slightly rising as she looked at Viserys. Relena let out a soft sigh, before she turned to leave the chamber, heading towards the throne room. The queen stood in front of the Iron Throne as she waited for the courtiers to quiet down, before taking a deep breath. “The Seven have smiled upon us. Within me I carry the heir to the Iron Throne, an heir with both Baratheon and Targaryen blood.”, she declared, her hand reaching to her right, as she offered it to her husband.

He had felt nearly every emotion he thought possible during his years growing as a child. Happy in small fleeting moments in this very keep with his mother and father, lonely when he rarely was allowed to see his own brother, he couldn’t even attend his wedding. Sadness and grief over his father and brother and mother. Fear as his family died and during the storm of Daenery’s birth. Relief when Ser Darry came and gave them a small bit of stability. Paranoia filled him as did rage and hatred that haunted him, even till now. Compassion for his sister and now for Relena. Jealously at Dany as she grew into herself and how the Dothraki loved her.

But now…he was elated. He was overjoyed. Brimming full with pride and happiness. But the giant smile that rested on his face started to fall with every word Relena spoke. He wanted to shake her, to get the Relena he knew was in there, that he had seen before come out. Not the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, but Relena Baratheon, a person, a wife…a mother.

“It is our duty to be happy in public regardless of how we truly feel.” He answered as she sighed and he watched her leave, trailing behind her a few moments after he gave his true reply in a whisper that threatened tears to flow. “Yes. I am truly happy”  For once in his life he had felt pure joy and he didn’t know what to do with this feeling and it was only harder to express it with Relena.

As he stood by the Queen on the Iron throne he watched the courts faces, Dany in particular glanced from Relena to watching Viserys and she smiled and he gave a small nod to her before he took Relena’s hand in his and remained stoic throughout the entire announcement. As soon as he was able to leave he did, going back to their chamber and sat down on the bed, hands in his face as he tried to stop the tears and wiped them away best he could as he heard someone enter. “I will go back to my own chambers…now that you—” He looked up, seeing Relena. “We’ve done our duty and so I see little point in sleeping in the same bed now. Do you agree?”
