thanks to @notenoughmuses I just realized how…
Please share with your friendly neighborhood winterfell dad
It is actually quite simple, if Ned doesn’t die there is peace bc the crown would be aligned with the North, the Westerlands, the Stormlands, thanks to the fact that Ned is married to a Tully the Riverlands and Ned also raised the heir to the Iron Isles which means almost all great houses are somehow tied together. Furthermore the Septa of Balore wouldn’t explode bc with Ned in the capital Cersei couldn’t do stupid stuff like arming the faith militant… so yeah, his death basically ruined the world
but we also run into the problem of Jon at the wall. Since there is no war of the five kings, Stannis doesn’t die. Mel wouldn’t have need to go to the Wall and save Jon. Jon dies. Unless Mel goes to the wall cuz the Lord of Light sends here there in the first place, nor would Dadvos be there and a part of Jon’s lil party. Euron may still prove an issue for the Greyjoys….so it’d be interesting to see what would happen there. Would Yara ask Theon for help and in turn getting help from say Starks? I feel like there is still a few things that are odd and like not fully dependent on Ned’s death or non death…
Robb’s Lord of Winterfell so Ramsay/Roose would’t have taken it over…I mean I guess they could still try to but I doubt it. Arya wouldn’t have met Gendry like she did….(maybe they still do cuz Ned’s knows he’s Robert’s son and Arya wouldn’t become a faceless man…)
