i’m honestly about six hundred and eleven million levels of HERE for rhodey being the one who made his choice based on what he truly, OBJECTIVELY believed to be the right thing to do, while tony was a full-on emotional mess like
it would have been very easy for them to just sidestep rhodey’s motivations altogether, leave it implied that “oh he’s a military man and Tony’s Friend Who’s Always Annoyed so of course he supports oversight” but no they actually gave him an independent moral standing on the issue, and even though he could have used more screen time (lmao he could use a whole franchise but that’s another conversation) it’s HIS motivations that the movie comes back to in the end. cap 3 MEANT to cause meta debate over the accords, and RHODEY’S WORDS AND MOTIVATIONS are the last pro-accords address that the audience is left with
and on tony’s end, the whole thing just FINALLY addresses the guilt and all the emotional clusterfuck that should have been building up in him since IM3 (if not IM2) and it was more about his personal baggage than it was about making him steve’s antagonistic philosophical opposite
also i swear to god i’m really paranoid rn and i’m telling you that if this post goes around and people make it about what a selfish egomaniac mess tony is i will personally find you and fight you specifically because through his emotional turmoil tony was still compelled to make his choices based on his weighing what the consequences would be to friends and civilians
