Tumblr legitimately has people afraid to say anything about Kilgrave so I’ll just go ahead and say it. You can like Kilgrave. You can love Kilgrave. It’s okay if Kilgrave is your favourite character. It’s okay if you think Kilgrave is a complex and twisted character. He’s very well-written and we’re supposed to be able to see things from his point of view; that’s what good writing does. It sets up a villain who has been misled or driven to villainy, not just someone who does it for fun. You can like Kilgrave: it’s okay!

What’s NOT okay is endorsing Kilgrave’s actions as a rapist. That is the only thing that we should be avoiding. It’s not okay to ship him with Jessica. It’s not okay to argue that what he did to her was anything other than rape. His character IS a rapist. You should not align with him, identify with him, or assert the idea that he is secretly a good person.

Apart from that; if you love Kilgrave’s characterisation, go ahead and announce it! He’s a well-written, interesting character! And if you send anon hate to people who like Kilgrave because YOU don’t understand that it’s okay to become invested in the writing and characterisation of a fictional character, go sit on Wolverine’s hand! People are allowed to enjoy the characterisation of a character without endorsing their actions!
