Freyja is for Everyone

answersfromvanaheim:

Some dudebro posted a comment of a review for my devotional stating that Freyja probably finds it hard to relate to the reviewer’s demographic of “diverse whiners“ and I’d just like to say “Um, no?”

Freyja is not just a goddess for white, straight, affluent, cis, able-bodied people. She has done sex work. She has been a single parent. She wandered the nine worlds searching for her lost husband. She is a warrior and a kindly goddess who watches the rye grow. Heck, she taught Odin seidr, and seidr is very much associated with transgressing gender roles and queerness, and you should see the rest of her family, seriously.

I am baffled as to how someone could so completely miss the point of the devotional, and I’m pretty sure the contributors would have some choice words as well.
